Day 28: Today I am thankful for naps. I did it to myself (which always seems to be the case) but life feels overwhelmingly busy right now. I feel a little stuck but like I said it is my own fault. Now I am trying to make the best of it and rest whenever I can. I am glad I took a nap today.

Day 29: Today I am thankful for a God who has continually pursued me for 28 years! Maybe even longer since he knew of me before he created the world but as I look back over my life, I can see how in one way or another God has put the right people, places and things in my life to point me to Him. He is so faithful to me. God is good!

Thankfulness Month: Day 27

Today I am thankful for our friend from India, Arthur Raj.

He is here staying with us for a few nights before he flies out to Chicago. What is blessing my little heart even more is seeing my children interact with him. I’m excited for them to grow up learning to love the world around us and far away from us. I grew up having Arthur come visit my family from the time I was a little girl (he and my dad were in seminary together when I was born and Arthur continues to come to the US every few years since then). It is always inspiring to hear his stories.

He shared how recently there were 4 women in his church who all had alcoholic husbands that caused them to miss a lot of work which accused a lot of strain on these women (in addition to the hardships emotionally living with these men). Well these women decided to commit to praying together every day for their husbands and Arthur would join them whenever he could and in his own prayer time. I am sure there were many others praying from the ministry as well. After days of praying for them, one went to take a drink and when he looked at the drink he saw a picture of his wife crying out in prayer and he couldn’t take the drink. He went home and found his wife exactly in the way he saw. This man’s life was changed because he knew it could not just be coincidence. One by one all four men were changed and completely healed. They have all become active in the church and the church is growing because of their testimonies.

What a great reminder of the power of prayer!

Day 24: Today I am thankful for car rides with my little family. Our boys did great on our trip home from SD and it is always fun to hear the little questions our oldest son comes up with. He asked us if we will always be his parents on this ride home. Funny how their minds work!

Day 25: Today I am thankful for a church service to just flow with the Holy Spirit. Our pastor said he tried to plan a message but God had different plans. He opened it up for people to share testimonies and it was really powerful.

Day 26: Today I am thankful for meals that are all ready to go in the freezer. This is going to be an extra busy week and I need all the help I can get!

What are you thankful for today? What was the best part of Thanksgiving for you?

Day 21: Today I am thankful the amazing team I get to work with at our church. We had a staff day and it was great to worship and pray together, ask ourselves the hard questions and dream of what God could do. I am so thankful I get to serve with these amazing people!

Day 22: I am thankful for two boys who travel so well. Our trip to SD went well! And I can’t forget to say I am thankful for Thanksgiving and for wonderful food with family!

Day 23: Today I am thankful for chiropractors especially while I am pregnant. I got the opportunity to go to my parent’s chiropractor today. His technique is very different than any I have been too but I still felt a great sense of relief and I am very thankful for that!

Day 19: Today I am thankful for new babies and birth stories. We had the opportunity to take dinner over to our neighbors who just had their second son. I enjoyed hearing about the labor and birth and meeting the little guy. Plus after dinner I was able to drop off baby blankets at our church for a woman that is going to take them back to Liberia so new moms have a nice blanket for their newborn. I love the miracle of life!

Day 20: Today I am thankful that God is the God who goes before us. Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “The LORD is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” We can trust our God!

Today I am thankful for a word from The Lord.

Do you ever have those moments when a message feels like it is being delivered by The Lord directly to you? This morning at church was like that. I wanted to just sit in our worship center and soak in the words I had just heard (but I had to go get my kids). I wanted to weep. I felt the Lord’s loving presence bringing healing to us His people. To me.

The message was on trust. The guest speaker shared about two big instances in his life when he was a child that planted the lie that God couldn’t be trusted. One was in death and his experience of loss of family members, the other was in provision because he grew up hearing his parents talk about not having enough to pay the bills at times. But he shared how God wants to meet us in the place where we are not trusting God and heal the lie that was sown in us. He shared how many of the symptoms we see in our lives are not the real issue (like control, addictions, anxiety, ect.). The real issue is trust and NOT trusting our Father. He said if we deal with the fact that we don’t trust the Father and live our lives surrendering to the Father, we will see freedom in the symptoms.

He boldly shared that God has a great future for us, our own promise land like Moses and the people, but we must trust Him otherwise we will never enter. Just like Moses.

The message was so powerful and the presence of The Lord was so sweet. I wish I could do the message justice in my short recap. Maybe once the message is uploaded onto our website I will include the link. I highly recommend listening to it!

Day 16: Today I am thankful for family. We had my brother and sister-in-law over for supper last night and it was so great to hang out and catch up on life!

Day 17: Today I am thankful that God is for me and not against me. Today I feel sad. It might be that hubby is leaving for the night to minister at another church tomorrow and I won’t see him until late tomorrow night or that I have been reminded of some things related to some family struggles we are going through. Or maybe because I feel a little stuck with my desire to eat more whole, organic foods but finances are limited and I don’t quite know how to make it work. Or maybe because I woke up from a dream in which I was weeping through most of it. I am not sure exactly but I am thankful for God’s grace and love for me.
